Well... where do I even begin?! On March 5th, I vended at my first event for the first time in two years. TWO YEARS!!! And let me just start by saying that the con was a wonderful expereince and a great way to start getting back into vending at in person events.
Herdcon is great for smaller artists or artists that have little to no experience with setting up at events before, as it is a smaller event and table fees are inexpensive. The event was free for folks to get into, which helped with the amazing foot traffic. They had a fabulous range of vendors, artists, music, panels, and food trucks.
I arrived to set up on Friday afternoon, which was easy. There was a small amount of parking in front of the building to use for unloading with plenty of paid parking lots around to move your car to when you were finished unloading. Staff was friendly and they had helpers, yes, helpers. These "helpers" are volunteers that help vendors and artists unload their cars and bring their inventory to their booths. Like.. WHAT?! Amazing.
The next day parking was easy and free, as the city of Huntington has free parking on the weekends! Foot traffic was slow during the first half hour, but once things started picking up they did not slow down right up to the last minute. Foot traffic and sales were constant throughout the day. Tear down and loading up my car was also easy. Overall, once again, I was super impressed with this event. Already counting down the days until next year as Herdcon is becoming one of my favorite events to set up.
Here are a couple photos of my little set up for the day. They provided plenty of space around my table for me to have an extra table. There was also plenty of space behind my booth so I was never cramped. I highly recommend this con to artists and creators!
There are plenty of hotels in the area with lots of entertainment options including my new favorite place.... Billy Bob's Wonderland!
